Natures Menu has a better protein to fat ratio. Vital Essentials's ratio of 2.24 to 1 is too high (not fatty enough). (The ideal ratio is 2 to 1.) Vital Essentials has slightly fewer ingredients, which is usually a good thing. Both foods are 100% free of fruits, veggies, grains, and starches.
